Party Confessional keeps everything on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no ads and no analytics, so we never receive your recordings or any other information about you or your guests.
This policy explains what the Party Confessional app for iPhone and iPad (“the app”) stores, where it keeps it, and the choices you have. “Host” means the person who owns the device and runs an event. “Guest” means anyone who records in the app’s Booth Mode.
01What we collect
Nothing. The app makes no network connections. It does not send recordings, names, usage statistics, crash reports, device identifiers or any other data to us or to anyone else. It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
02What stays on your device
To work, the app saves the following on the device it runs on, and only there:
| Information | Why it’s stored |
|---|---|
| Videos, photos and audio recorded in the app | The footage guests capture for your event. |
| First names guests choose to type in | Labels a recording with who’s talking. Guests can skip this or stay anonymous, and the host can turn the question off. |
| Event details, prompts, notes, tags, storylines and the episode outline | Lets the host organize footage. |
| Recording metadata (time, length, question asked, event stage, whether the guest agreed to the recording notice) | Keeps clips in order, makes them searchable, and shows the host who agreed to be recorded. |
| Edited episode videos you render | The finished video of your event, built on the device from your own clips. |
| Host PIN | Locks Booth Mode. Stored only as a salted, one-way hash in the iOS Keychain, never as the PIN itself. |
| App preferences | Remembers whether Booth Mode is on and which question comes next. |
Recordings are kept in the app’s own storage. They also appear in the Files app (On My iPhone or On My iPad › Party Confessional) and in Finder when the device is connected to a Mac, so you can always reach your original files.
If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, Apple’s backup may include the app’s data, under your own backup settings. We never have access to those backups.
03Permissions
iOS asks for your permission before the app can use any of the following. You can change these at any time in Settings › Party Confessional.
- Camera: records confessionals, party videos and photos.
- Microphone: records sound with videos. Without it, videos are silent.
- Photos (add only): requested only when you choose Save to Photos. The app can add items to your library but cannot see or read it.
- Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode: optionally unlocks Booth Mode. Apple handles this check; the app only learns whether it succeeded and never receives any biometric data.
04Sharing
The app never shares anything on its own. Footage leaves the device only when the host chooses to, for example with the iOS Share Sheet (AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files or another app), Save to Photos, or by copying files in the Files app or Finder. Once you share something, the service or person you send it to handles it under their own terms and privacy policies.
Booth Mode is designed so guests cannot view, delete or export anyone’s recordings.
05For hosts: your guests
By default, Booth Mode shows each guest a short notice before anything records, explaining that the recording is saved on the device for the host to watch, edit and share. Recording starts only after the guest taps “I’m in”, and the app notes on each clip whether the guest agreed. The host can turn this notice off in Event Settings.
The host decides how the app is used at an event and is responsible for the recordings made with it. Please let guests know they are being recorded, get any consent required where you live, and respect requests to delete a recording. Hosts can delete any clip or an entire event at any time from within the app.
If you were recorded at an event and want a recording removed, please contact the host who ran the event. We cannot access, find or delete recordings, because they exist only on the host’s device.
06Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, because we collect none at all. Hosts are responsible for getting a parent’s or guardian’s permission before recording children.
07Keeping and deleting data
Everything stays on the device until you delete it.
- Delete a recording: open it in the Media Library and choose Delete.
- Delete an event: Event Settings › Delete Event removes the event and all of its recordings.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. Copies you already shared or saved to Photos, and any device backups, are not affected.
iOS may keep the Keychain entry holding the hashed host PIN after the app is deleted. It contains no personal information.
08Security
Your data is protected by the security built into iOS, including encryption of app data when the device has a passcode set. Because nothing is sent over the internet, there is no server for anyone to breach. Keep your device protected with a passcode, and use Guided Access when the booth is unattended.
09Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA may give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to provide or delete. You stay in full control of your data on your device. If you have a question about your rights, please contact us.
10Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change ever involves collecting data, we will explain it here before it takes effect.
